Breakfast at a Consulting Company
Today I found out what a consultant does. So basically from what I understand can a consulting be everything. Some Consultants are programming, some are project managing, some are scrum master. It’s a blown up term to cover up everything and also look more professional than what you actually need in skills. So I can be a consultant when I program for others while do project management. I can also be a consultant when I am a solutions architect and or a lead developer.
So is it smart from a selling point perspective to call myself consultant? I think so yeah.
Do I find this term blown up and not really goal oriented? Yes.
Does my honesty will kill my professional appearance? Maybe.
So what are the benefits for me to work as a consultant now? I think benefits are to see more projects in a shorter amount of time you would see projects when you are directly employed in a software company.
So why do people like calling themselves consultants? Good question maybe you can tell me.
And why do people like to work as consultants? Maybe it’s because you have more human interaction than just being a developer. But since I do this project overhead automatically, and it’s not really effort or work for me, does it make myself automatically a consultant? Good question and I think I will find it out. So I think good idea is, to just call myself from now consultant, to give people more interpretation room.
Playing with the mind of the opponent or human, is I think the goal to in the end get somewhere. Ignorance is bliss right, I think this goes towards this too because if people don’t know much about you, they just think and expect a high tier person of the other side. This means, clothing plays a significant role in appearance.
I shall get myself a robe, more slick jackets and clothes will have a more serious appearance which gives some mind controlling aspects.
